“La Mission” will be screened at the forthcoming 17th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival. The location is the UltraStar Cinemas at Hazard Center in Mission Valley, San Diego, CA, and the schedule for “La Mission” is as follows:

  • Saturday, March 20, 2010, 7 pm, Screen 7
  • Sunday, March 21, 2010, 10:15 pm, Screen 6.

A reminder that, on Thurday, March 4th, Peter Bratt will introduce “La Mission” (a San Francisco-set family drama that premiered at Sundance Film Festival and opened the San Francisco International Film Festival last year, very much draws on the Bratt family’s own pool of on-and-behind-camera talents) to the 20th Cinequest Film Festival audience, at the California Theatre in San Jose, CA. After the film, Benjamin Bratt will follow with a 30 minute conversation and accept the Maverick Spirt Award.

“La Mission” has been acquired by Screen Media Films, which is planning an April 9 release, and was honored with the

  • 2010 Special Jury Premio Mesquite Award (February, 2010)
  • Green Media Seal- Environmental Media Awards (October 2009)
  • Human Rights Award, Artivist Film Festival (December, 2009)
  • 2nd place, Audience Award, Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (October 2009).

A reminder that History Channel will air the second part of a special commercial-free broadcast of “The People Speak” on on Monday, March 1, at 6am/5c. The first part aired on February 22.

Moreover, the episode from “Modern Family” guest starring Benjamin, “Up All Night”, will re-air on ABC, on Wednesday, March 3, at 8 pm, right before a new episode. “Fears” (no Benjamin in this one, though) airs at 9 pm.

Benjamin is scheduled to attend the the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented in Los Angeles, CA, on April 17, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) hosted a panel discussion with “La Mission” cast and crew at Queer Lounge in Park City, UT, during the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

History Channel presents a special commercial-free broadcast of “The People Speak” for use in classrooms. Educators may use a recording of this special broadcast for two years in the classroom, free of copyright restrictions.

So educators (or those who missed “The People Speak” when it first aired on History Channel on December 13, 2009) can tune in and set their recording device.

The documentary will be divided into two parts:

  • Part I will air on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 6am/5c,
  • Part II will air on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 6am/5c.

Be sure to check local listings closer to the air date for the correct time in your location.

The documentary had its world premiere at the Atlanta Film Festival on April 16, 2009, and Benjamin Bratt performed

“La Mission” is showing today – Friday, February 5 -, tomorrow – Saturday, February 6 – and on Sunday, February 7 at the 33rd Göteborg International Film Festival in Sweden.

“La Mission” film is close to Bratt brothers

According to E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos, Benjamin Bratt returns as Manny’s wayward dad in the February 10 episode (“My Funky Valentine”) of “Modern Family” (Watch With Kristin).

Moreover, ABC renewed “Modern Family” for a second season.

The 32nd edition of CineFestival en San Antonio, which showcases films by and about Latinos and runs Thursday, February 4, through  Sunday, Febryary 7, 2010, at the historic Guadalupe Theater in San Antonio, TX, will host a screening of “La Mission” on Saturday, February 6, at 8 pm.

Director Peter Bratt and actors Benjamin Bratt and Jesse Borrego are set to attend.

“La Mission” is also the winner of CineFestival’s prestigious Premio Mesquite Award: Special Jury Award.

Remembering Howard Zinn

Author, historian, teacher, activist, and television producer Dr. Howard Zinn died suddenly of a heart attack on Wednesday, at 87.

A televised documentary based on his bestselling book “The People Speak” aired in onDecember 13, 2009, on History Channel (featuring Benjamin Bratt, among others) and readings from it were performed at locations such as the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
